New Dawn Farm imagines a world in which all people have equal access to local, mindfully cultivated food.
New Dawn Farm is a small vegetable, herb, and flower farm dedicated to providing the local community with fresh produce. We are also committed to growing vegetables for our local food pantry as we recognize the reality of rural poverty. We encourage visitors to find a sense of place on our farm through the love we share as we work. New Dawn Farm is owned and managed by women, who welcome all who are interested in learning about innovative, sustainable and low till, farming practices.
New Dawn Farm is a diversified vegetable, flower, and herb farm in Westmoreland, New Hampshire. We provide fresh, nutrient dense food to our neighbors using sustainable, regenerative practices and efficient systems. We are committed to bringing food access and farm education to our community. We run a small CSA, and sell our vegetables on Monadnock Menus, as well as at the Brattleboro Farmer’s Market, through our Farm Stand, and directly to restaurants and caterers in the area.
New Dawn Farm is owned and operated by Clai Lasher-Sommers, and is managed by women farmers. We take on several graduate student interns every season and spend time and energy teaching young people about farming and food production. We are tucked into a beautiful valley of farms along Partridge Brook on Spofford Road, just about halfway between Spofford Village and Westmoreland’s South Village.
Clai Lasher-Sommers has been gardening, farming, and working with farmers forever. She loves looking at the fields and the flowers in the early morning with her coffee.
Brenna grew up in and around Peterborough, NH and has farmed in southern NH for five years. Outside of farming, Brenna loves dancing, rock climbing, baking, and all kinds of fiber arts.
We follow strict standards to ensure the safety of our members, our workers, and our produce. We are careful to replace all the nutrients we take from the soil and then some. While we are not certified organic, in many cases our practices go beyond what organic growers must do. We do not use sprays or synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. We also operate with a “Low Till” system, in order to maintain our soil health. We grow hundreds of flowering plants to provide habitat and forage for our precious pollinator insects.

New Dawn Farm grows over 130 different varieties of vegetables throughout the growing season, from Arugula to Zucchini. We consistently expand our production earlier into the spring, and later into the winter, through various grants for season extension and high-tunnel growing through the USDA, to bring as many weeks of fresh food as we can to the table.
New Dawn Farm grows flower for your table, and for your salad. We offer a “Flower Share,” which is a delivery or pickup of a fresh bouquet for 10 weeks throughout June-September. Members of our CSA have the benefit of picking their own flowers should they choose the on-farm pickup location. We also grow many kinds of edible flowers, which serve as an incredible garnish on any salad, soup, or dessert. If you are interested in New Dawn providing flowers for your wedding or special event please email us at info@newdawnfarmnh.com to get started!
We grow a wide variety of culinary and medicinal herbs which we sell fresh, dried, or as teas. Our herb production is continually expanding.

New Dawn Farm grows specifically for Joan’s Pantry in Chesterfield, NH, which is just 5 minutes away from the farm. We provide first-quality produce to the patrons of the pantry, as well as low-cost recipes using the weekly ingredients available on their shelves. We also donate seconds to the Community Kitchen in Keene, where the vegetables are prepared into freshly cooked meals. Little Seed also collaborates with the Community Garden run by Antioch University students which grows for the KCK. Please consider donating to the pantry to help provide nutritious produce to a local family.
We are dedicated to providing access to farm education to our community through workshops, internships, and shared online educational resources. We have taught the intricacies of farming to children, teens, undergraduate students, graduate students, neighbors, and even retirees and survivors of trauma. We strive to make learning about food accessible to all abilities and experiences.
Through our partnership with the Keene State College Dietetic Internship we bring nutrition education to our CSA members, interns, pantry patrons, farm stand customers, and community members.
