17 May Fresh veggies coming soon…
Finally, some warm weather
We’re very happy to see some temperatures over 50 and we hope you’ve been enjoying it as much as we have. This week, we braved the cold to get some peas and beans in the ground and also managed to stay warm planting tomatoes in the greenhouse. We’re waiting with bated breath to see the fruits of our labor!
You can enjoy them too!
Our first CSA week begins Thursday, June 6th and we are hoping you choose to join us this year! If you’d like to, visit our online farm shop to sign up for your 2019 CSA share today!
Learning at New Dawn Farm
Here’s a little note from one of our KSC Dietetic interns, Paloma, about her experience so far:
While I have lived in Massachusetts for twelve years, growing up in the Dominican Republic showed me how extreme disparities between social classes, particularly regarding access to good food, can lead to higher incidences of disease. Even though I no longer live in a developing country, I understand how disparities are just as pressing here in the United States.
For the last two weeks, I’ve been fortunate to be rotating at New Dawn Farm. We have been planting, learning how to prepare the soil for planting, harvesting, and learning about the importance of food production! It has been increasingly motivating to experience and see their commitment to bringing food access and farm education to our community.
We are glad to have Paloma here to share laughs, hard work, and experiences with.
Here’s what we predict will be available at the Brattleboro Farmers’ Market this Saturday:
Anything we are unsure of will be denoted with a (?)
- Head lettuce
- Hakurei turnips
- Bok Choy (Full and Baby)
- Lettuce mix
- Arugula (?)
- A variety of plant starts!
Come say hi and see what we have for yourself!
